You’ve heard me many times stressing the importance of keeping your
body as “clean”(de-toxified) as possible-it is of paramount importance
for cancer prevention, increased focusing and concentrating ability
and decreasing degeneration which results in speeding up aging and
disease. One sure way to do all this is by avoiding Pesticides in
Your Produce-at least as much as you can…
…so, here are the Top 10 Foods to Eat Organic:
Much of the food that we consume on a daily basis contains pesticide
residues. While the FDA has regulations over the safe amount of
pesticide content in any food, the levels are particularly worrisome
in certain produce. While the consumption of these foods has been
shown to have no adverse affects in the short term, it has been shown
that high levels of these toxins found in the body over time can cause
all sorts of illness and disease.
While striving to eat organic is always something important, it is
often difficult, inconvenient; and can become quite costly. Because
not everyone can afford to go the 100% organic route every time they
shop, there are certain foods that experts say are more important to
eat organic than others. This is because they have high levels of
pesticide residues even after being washed and readied for
consumption. In fact, their toxin content is so high that nutrition
experts recommend only eating these foods when and if they can be
purchased organic.
Below is a list of the top 10 offenders, some of the nasty toxins they
contain, and ideal alternatives when organic can’t be found.
Strawberries
Main Nutrient: Vitamin C
Pesticide Residues These Often Contain: Strawberries have high levels
of fungicides, some of which are classified by the EPA as probable
human carcinogens. They are also frequently contaminated with
endosulfan, a chemical that interferes with normal hormone function by
imitating the hormone estrogen.
Healthy Alternatives: oranges, grapefruit, kiwifruit, watermelon
Spinach
Main Nutrient: Iron, Vitamins A and C
Pesticide Residues These Often Contain: Because spinach is often grown
in mediocre growing conditions, the crops are more susceptible to
insect damage and mildew. To prevent these problems from ruining their
harvests farmers use high amounts of pesticides and fungicides. As a
result spinach is exceptionally high in DDT, permethrin, chlorthalonil
and other cancer causing pesticides.
Healthy Alternatives: kale, swiss chard, broccoli, brussels sprouts,
asparagus
Peaches
Main Nutrient: Vitamins A and C
Pesticide Residues These Often Contain: This fruit has a heavy dose of
the cancer causing fungicides captan and iprodione, and the neurotoxic
pesticide methyl parathion, which are used to combat insects.
Healthy Alternatives: nectarines, watermelon, tangerines, oranges,
grapefruit
Apples
Main Nutrient: Vitamin C
Pesticide Residues These Often Contain: To keep apples so pretty and
shiny as we have come to see them in the grocery store, it takes a lot
of pesticides, fungicides and petroleum oil. Common pesticide residues
found on apples, are Chlorpyrifos, Diphenylamine, Captan, Carbendazim
and Thiabendazole.
Healthy Alternatives: watermelon, nectarines, bananas, tangerines
Pears
Main Nutrient: Vitamin A, Potassium
Pesticide Residues These Often Contain: Similar to apples, in order to
have aesthetically pleasing pears great deals of insecticides need to
be used. Common pesticides found on your average pear include:
Carbendazim, Chlormequat, Dithiocarbamates, Tolylfluanid, Captan.
Healthy Alternatives: canned pears, canned peaches, oranges
Celery
Main Nutrient: Carotenoids
Pesticide Residues These Often Contain: As celery is primarily made up
of water, it is no wonder that it absorbs anything and everything
around it; this includes toxins and water found in the soil around it.
As a result it is a major source of exposure to neurotoxic pesticides
and the probable human carcinogen, chlorthalonil.
Healthy Alternatives: carrots, broccoli, radishes, romaine lettuce

If you have Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes, then there are a few
things of which you should be aware if deciding to use the
Cleansing and Fat Burning System.
Type 1 diabetes

It’s common to have lower levels of glucose while on the
products. Be careful with your use of insulin. I recommend
to my patients that they cut their insulin in half while
they do this program and adjust it accordingly. I also
recommend my patients use short-acting insulin. Please
consult your doctor before adjusting medication. You cannot
expect to get off of insulin, of course, but you can expect
to feel better and lower the levels of insulin required.

During the Shake Days you may find that the glucose levels
increase. This is expected, but if the rise is too high then
you can consider switching to diluting the shake with our
unflavored whey protein, IsaPro, or having ½ a shake 4 times
a day or ½ a shake 2 times day. Watch your glucose levels to
guide you.

Type 2 diabetes

Monitor your glucose levels closely since it’s easy to have
low levels while on the program. I personally recommend to
my diabetics that they cut their medications in half if they
are going to start on the 9-Day Program and if they are
using insulin to only use the shorter-acting insulins.
Please consult your doctor before adjusting medication.

A temporary glucose rise would be OK since it’s better than
you falling into a hypoglycemic state, which is more
dangerous than a hyperglycemic state. What we generally see
is a reduction of both medication and glucose levels with
this program. The Shake Days may very well show an increase
in the glucose levels but as your weight goes down this
generally is self-correcting. If this rise is too great for
you then you can switch to just the IsaPro or you can use ½
a shake 4 times a day or reduce the amount to just ½ a shake
2 times a day.

I have also seen my patients no longer require any type of
medication for diabetes, but individual differences doesn’t
make this the case for everyone.* At the very least you
should see a reduction in your weight and a reduction in the
amount of medication that you are using.

1. Frequent hand-washing (well highlighted in all official communications)
2. “Hands-off-the-face” approach. Resist all temptations to touch any part of face (unless you want to eat, bathe or slap)
3. *Gargle twice a day with warm salt water (use Listerine if you don’t trust salt). *H1N1 takes 2-3 days after initial infection in the throat/ nasal cavity to proliferate and show characteristic symptoms. Simple gargling prevents proliferation. In a way, gargling with salt water has the same effect on a healthy individual that Tami flu has on an infected one. Don’t underestimate this simple, inexpensive and powerful preventative method.
4. Similar to 3 above, *clean your nostrils at least once every day with warm salt water. *Not everybody may be good at Jala Neti or Sutra Neti (very good Yoga asanas to clean nasal cavities), but *blowing the nose hard once a day and swabbing both nostrils with cotton buds dipped in warm salt water is very effective in bringing down viral population.*
5. *Boost your natural immunity with foods that are rich in Vitamin C (Amla and other citrus fruits). *If you have to supplement with Vitamin C tablets, make sure that it also has Zinc to boost absorption.
6. *Drink as much of warm liquids (tea, coffee, etc) as you can. *Drinking warm liquids has the same effect as gargling, but in the reverse direction. They wash off proliferating viruses from the throat into the stomach where they cannot survive, proliferate or do any harm. Neti pots and sinus rinse kits are available at the drug store and relatively inexpensive….under $15.
7.Follow the Homeopathic cold&flu “shot”(the natural alternative to the flu shot) every wk: Thumuline-on Saturdays+Mucococcimun-on Sundays.

Used originally in most cultures for ceremonies, caffeine
has become the most ubiquitous drug in the western world.
Most negative effects of caffeine are not necessarily a
concern for the occasional user, but do occur with regular
use of over 100 mg daily, also depending on the
individual’s sensitivities.
Being a stimulant, caffeine impacts the adrenal glands (our
stress glands) and overtime even leading them to exhaustion,
especially when already run down by everyday stressors. It
also damages vitamin B, the nerve-building vitamin needed to
help us handle stress, it acts as a diuretic-removing
precious water from the body and brain, it has been linked
to osteoporosis and kidney stones due to one of its
compounds, oxalic acid (present in both regular and
decaffeinated coffee).
Other depleted nutrients that need replenishing during
average coffee use are: thiamine (B1), riboflavin (B2),
pyridoxine (B6), vitamin C, potassium, magnesium, to a
lesser degree zinc, iron, calcium, and the trace minerals.
Anyone with a regular caffeine habit should seriously
consider discontinuing its use and in an addiction
possibility, give it up completely; as anything that causes
addiction, caffeine can lead to negative effects on the
body, mind, and overall quality of life. The people who feel
they cannot properly function without caffeine and believe
they must consume it on a daily basis are addicted.
The best way to approach a caffeine detox program is by
first strengthening your adrenal glands (stress glands) that
have been over stimulated during your caffeinated time, in
order to easier manage the change, then by following a good
nutritional cleansing program that will get rid of any extra
toxicity in your body while supplying the needed nutrients
for this job.
Gradually replacing the caffeinated coffee with grain
“coffees” (coffee substitutes) can be both helpful and
emotionally welcoming by allowing you to maintain the same
coffee-drinking social habits.
The pleasures of coffee and tea drinking are as much a
cultural phenomenon as they are a taste preference.
Remember: habits are developed, not inherent, and anything
we learn, we can also un-learn or re-learn.
indicated in your case, take my FREE TOXICITY SELF-TEST.

October to April is flu season, when the influenza virus
causes infection in the airways. Every year, countless
otherwise healthy Canadian adults and children miss work and
school due to the flu. Often confused with a cold, the flu
causes headache, chills and dry cough, rapidly joined by
body aches and fever. While the fever declines on the second
or third day of the illness, full recovery may take up to
six weeks. For some, influenza leads to life- threatening
illnesses like pneumonia, resulting in hospitalization and
even death.
A good diet, vitamins and exercise contribute to your
general health, and although proper and frequent hand
washing can reduce the spread of the flu, the best
protection is prevention – especially if you have a medical
condition.
Natural approaches
To ward off infection this fall and winter, begin to
strengthen the immune system with food and supplements.
Eat garlic:
shown to be an intense immune booster and it kills several
types of bacteria and viruses. Load up on garlic in your
food (pasta and sauces), and take an odourless garlic
supplement to reap the benefits of the active allelic
sulfide compounds.
Supplement with Vitamin C:
one of the most powerful immune boosting vitamins around.
This precious water-soluble vitamin is found in oranges,
orange juice, broccoli, other fruits and vegetables and high
quality multi-vitamins. Chewable Ester C or Vitamin C
supplements are readily available. An additional immune
booster is liquid Vitamin C combined with zinc.
Zinc it up:
if C is the ‘super immunity’ vitamin, then zinc must be
the ‘super immunity’ mineral, involved in the production
of a type of immune building white blood cell called
T-lymphocytes. Since soil erosion has caused reduced levels
of zinc in food, most people are low in this mineral,
leading to widespread immune problems.
The riches food sources of zinc include beef, lamb, pork
and salmon; vegetarian options include dairy products
(yogurt), whole grains, beans, nuts, and nuts butters,
pumpkin and sunflower seeds. Widely-available, zinc lozenges
are very effective for sore throats.
Eat probiotic-rich foods:
probiotics are the ‘good’ bacteria that naturally
inhabit the digestive system. Unfortunately, due to long
term antibiotic used, a low fibre diet or a diet heavy in
refined flours, sugars and/or alcohol, digestive microflora
(the ‘good’ bacteria) can be compromised, causing health
to suffer. Probiotics like Acidophilus or bufidus promote
health by suppressing the growth of harmful bacteria,
improving immune system function and enhancing the
protective barrier of the digestive tract. They are also
helpful in the production of vitamin K. Probiotics are kept
refrigerated and available in capsule, liquid or powdered
form. For best results, select a mixed-strain probiotics
supplement with five billions organisms per capsules.
Reduce sugar intake:
white blood cells fight off infection. A scale called the
leukocyticindex is often used to measure how many invaders a
white blood cell can kill within an hour. The average
grading on the leukocytic index is approximately 13.9.
According to Dr. Stoll, author of Saving Yourself from the
Diseases-Care Crisis, within 15 minutes of consuming 100
grams of refined sugar, the leukocytic index rating drops to
approximately 1.4. In other words, the average person loses
over 90% of immune function in this short time. It’s best
to avoid sugar-laden food products like pop, candy, cookies
and cake, especially when you are starting to feel run down.
Opt for natural sweet choices such as fruit, healthy
home-made popsicles or baked goods sweetened with apple
sauce or yogurt.
Get alkaline:
all foods, after being digested and metabolizes, release
either an acid or an alkaline base (bicarbonate) into blood.
Refined grains, meat, poultry, shellfish, cheese, coffee,
milk, and salt all produce acid, whereas most fruits,
vegetables, beans, almonds, olive and soy tend to be
alkaline. The body thrives in an alkaline state rather than
an acidic state. It’s very difficult, if not impossible,
for bacteria or a virus to flourish in an alkaline state.
Your alkaline state can be measured by your urinary or
salivary pH (potential of hydrogen). To test your saliva,
simply purchase pH paper from your local pharmacy or health
food store. Wait at least two hours after eating, fill your
mouth with saliva and swallow it. Do this once more to
ensure your saliva is clean, and then test with pH paper. In
the normal range (7.2- 7.4), the paper turns blue. If
excessive acidic due to diet, medication or for other
reasons, the paper turns a greenish yellow. If you’re
overly acidic, be sure to get 70 % of your food intake from
an alkaline source and 30 % from acidic choices. Opt for
green powders in your morning shake, liquid chlorophyll in
your daily water and alkaline forming foods like dark leafy
greens (spinach and broccoli).
Sweat it out:
A hot bath, sauna or shower induces sweating and cleansing
through the skin. Steam is an exelent treatment for
respiratory problems, and a hot sower or sauna can soothe
achy joints and muscles that accompany the virus.
Stay hydrated:
with water and diluted natural juices. This one is the most
effective ways to flush out the system and avoid infection.
Products that are labelled fruit drink, fruit beverage,
punch, cocktail or -ade may look and even taste like real
juice, but they are likely a mixture of sugar and water.
Check the ingredient list. If the first words are water,
sugar, glucose- fructose, artificila flavor etc., then the
product only contains a small amount of real juice and you
want to avoid these.
Rest:
sleep and rest are the best methods to help restore and
revitalize the immune system. Tuck yourself or your little
ones in early to get at least 8 hours, and allow an extra
nap to help the healing process.
Start using the homeopathic cold and flu”shot”
The natural alternative is a combination of two
homeopathics, taken sublingually on two adjacent days(Sat.&
Sun., for ex.). Call our office to book your
mini-visit(15min.) iover the phone to know more:

What you need to know this winter.
People with swine flu may experience body aches, chills,
cough, fatigue, fever, headache, loss of appetite, and sore
throat.
This cold and flu season you’re probably wondering most
about the H1N1 virus and the likelihood of either becoming
exposed to it, contracting it yourself or it spreading into
a pandemic which could potentially threaten your health as
well as those around you.

H1N1 aka ‘swine influenza’
Also known as ‘swine flu, ’is a contagious respiratory
disease that initially only affected pigs. Generally,
strains of swine flu virus would only infect pigs; however,
influenza viruses are constantly changing their genes,
through a process called mutation. Mutation allows the virus
to ‘jump the species barrier’ and subsequently cause the
condition in humans – resulting in H1N1 flu virus (human
swine flu). Because humans have no natural protection or
immunity to this strain of the virus, they are likely to
become ill.
The H1N1 flu virus is contagious. Person-to-person
transmission is believed to occur the same way as regular
seasonal influenza. The virus enters the body through the
eyes, nose, and/or mouth. Coughing and sneezing releases the
virus into the air, where it can be inhaled by others. The
virus can also rest on hard surfaces like doorknobs, ATM
buttons, and counters. If someone touches these surfaces
with their hands and then touches their eyes, mouth, or nose
they can become infected with the virus. And contrary to
popular belief, you CANNOT get infected with the H1N1 flu
virus from eating pork products.

H1N1 symptoms
It is very similar to those of seasonal human influenza, so
it’s tricky to distinguish between the two. People with
swine influenza may experience body aches, chills, cough,
fatigue, fever, headache, loss of appetite, and sore throat.
Some people with H1N1 flu virus have also reported vomiting
and diarrhea.
The severity of symptoms can vary from mild to severe and
patients sometimes require hospitalization. In some cases,
severe complications such as pneumonia and respiratory
failure can cause death. Like the seasonal flu, H1N1 flu may
worsen existing chronic medical conditions.
A doctor can perform laboratory rests that help identify
the H1N1 virus. If you’ve recently travelled to an area of
the world where there is a human swine flu outbreak or you
have any flu-like symptoms, you should see your doctor and
be sure to tell the doctor where you have visited. If you
suspect H1N1, call your doctor’s office ahead of time so
they can prepare for your visit.
A vaccine is anticipated this autumn to protect humans from
H1N1 virus. In the meantime, there are antiviral medications
available to help prevent and treat H1N1 (amatadine,
oseltamivir, and zanamivir). Most people with previously
reported human ‘swine flu’ (H1N1) have been able to
recover fully without medical attention and without
antiviral medications. However, recent outbreaks indicate
that treatment with antivirals may be needed.

Back to basics: H1N1 flu prevention
• Maintain a distance of one metre from people who
are sick and have symptoms of H1N1 (e.g. fever, cough)
• Wash your hands with soap and water frequently
and thoroughly for at least 15 seconds, or use alcohol-based
sanitizers
• Get an annual homeopathic “flu shot”. This will
ensure protection against most viruses by boosting your
immunity.
• Practice good health habits like getting enough
sleep, eating a nutritious diet, and staying physically
active.
If you become sick, stay home from work or school. Cover
your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing
or with your sleeve or hands, make sure to wash your hands
thoroughly afterwards. For more information on H1N1 flu and
cough, cold and flu prevention strategies, visit ….

AN OUNCE OF PREVENTION…
Add immune boosting foods, vitamins and supplements to your
daily routine – garlic, Vitamin C, zinc, and Echinacea.
Start the homeopathic flu “shot”(2 oral homeopathic
remedies taken on alternate days, under the tongue). Call
our office-905-884-7965- for a 10min. mini consultation to
learn how to do this.
How we perceive a stress-provoking event and how we react
to it determines its impact on our health. We may be
motivated and invigorated by the events in our lives, or we
may see some as “stressful” and respond in a manner that
may have a negative effect on our physical, mental, and
social well-being. We must learn to relax and enjoy what
matters!
Summer is already coming to an end and mid September is
knocking on our doors with its beautiful sunny days and cool
refreshing nights. Students are stressed and anxious about
the prospect of seeing their friends, discovering their new
classrooms and meeting their new teachers and classmates for
the coming year. Many will mourn their vacation and start
reorganizing their use of time and facing the labyrinth of
school deadlines ahead of them.
Parents, on the other hand, face an explosive cocktail of
emotions as they reorganize, reschedule and adjust the
family budget while foreseeing trips to the store for school
supplies and new clothing, all the while trying to save
money.
Fortunately, there are many natural solutions to help with
the effects of stress and anxiety on the nervous system and
the rest of the body like:
• Cerebral perturbations, memory and concentration
problems – specific homeopathies have a positive effect on
memory, attention deficit, and concentration.
• Nervous exhaustion – tissue salts like
kalium-phosphoricum can strengthen and support the nervous
system, guarding against nervous exhaustion and as
lassitude, mild depression, nervousness, irritability,
hysteric behaviour, or impaired memory, confusion,
sleeplessness and psychosomatic illnesses.
• Hyperactive/overactive brain activity (for
example, in people that worry a lot, CEOs, students, people
having to keep many deadlines all the time) – gemmotherapy
like Ribes nigrum – helps you reduce nervousness, combats
stress, and balances emotional stress.
Homeopathic remedies, tissue salts, gemmotherapy remedies
– they all can help you reduce your level of anxiety and
stress caused by the start of school, changes in weather, or
any other stressful events in your life.
As always, for best results to an individual approach,
consulting a qualified health care professional is the
safest way. To find out your stress index, take Dr.Anca’s

After a summer of loose fitting sun dresses, pulling on
jeans again is always traumatic.
Besides tempting summertime foods such as ice cream cones,
smoked back ribs and juicy grilled burgers, our summer
lifestyles are filled with less obvious pitfalls.
Even if you are active in the warmer months golfing,
gardening, and walking, you might still find yourself
trapped in a summer weight gain cycle.
Usually people expect to lose weight in the summer and end
up being surprised that weight loss doesn’t naturally
follow with the season.
One reason is that in summertime, our social patterns
change.
We socialize more, seeing friends during the week as well
as on the weekend. And of course, with socializing comes
snacking and drinking that wouldn’t occur if you were home
doing chores or even sitting alone watching television.
Summer can also hold unexpected health and weight gain
traps. It seems counter-intuitive to gain weight in summer
weather when you’re outside more and more active, you
should be shedding the pounds. But, when we’re rushed
it’s fast food we tend to pick when hunger strikes; add
more BBQs, parties and a few extra drinks a week and you get
extra pounds.
Air-conditioning is another hidden pitfall; it tricks our
bodies into craving heavier foods than we’d choose when
feeling the true effects of outdoor ambient temperatures. As
a result of living and working in air-conditioned comfort,
today we eat more during the summer months than 25 years
ago. Winter appetites are regulated by the shorter daylight
hours that make us crave comfort foods. Summer appetites
should be regulated by warm temperatures but the prevalence
of air-conditioning means appetites don’t diminish.
Swimming in cold water is also a problem for Canadians who
vacation near lakes that are frozen for several months, and
oceans that contain icebergs well into June. Low water
temperatures stimulate appetite, while exercise that
increases body temperature (running, cycling or playing
tennis) often diminishes appetite. Research shows that
competitive swimmers typically have body fat levels that are
about 5% higher than runners and cyclists; swimmers often
report increased hunger after exercise.
And yet another weight gain component is stress – the
cold temperatures from air-conditioning and lakes or
swimming pools you cool off in act as a stressor on your
body, causing it to release more cortisol – the hormone
that helps pack the weight around the mid-section.
If weight gain is your issue, your first strategy is being
aware of the pattern and its triggers, so you can modify
your eating behaviour (reach for more fresh fruits and
vegetables, which are plentiful during the warmer months,
rather than all the fattening foods), become more conscious
of your social habits and environment, and follow up with a

all the healthy natural foods in their fresh state! Amongst all health benefits

of eating fresh fruits and vegetables, here are some extra ones because of one

essential nutrient they all contain abundantly: Potassium.

Health Benefits of Potassium

The health benefits of potassium include stroke, blood pressure, anxiety and stress, muscular strength, metabolism, heart and kidney disorders, water balance, electrolytic functions, nervous system and other general health benefits of potassium. Potassium, the third most abundant mineral in human body, is the synonym for health insurer. It contains the qualities for maintaining a high level of human well-being and a cheerful lifestyle. There is no way one should overlook the inclusion of potassium in routine diet plan. Apart from acting as an electrolyte, this mineral is required for keeping heart, brain, kidney, muscle tissues and other important organs of human body in good condition. Potassium chloride is the main variety of this mineral amongst others. It works in association with sodium to perform a number of critical body tasks. Deficiency Symptoms: Deficiency of any nutrient in the body is not desirable and potassium is not an extension in this case. A diet deficient in potassium may lead to symptoms like fatigue and weakness in muscles. Other indications for deficiency of potassium include inactive reflexes, abnormal heartbeat, heart palpitations, anaemia and severe headaches. The person may also experience high blood pressure, pain in intestine, swelling in glands and diabetes as serious effects of this deficiency. Important Sources: A balanced diet must contain fair quantity of potassium, as per the recommendations of the health experts. In order to list most important dietary sources of potassium, one may begin with citrus fruits, vegetables and grains. Also, salmon, chicken, whole milk, fresh fruit juices and almonds are considered as rich sources of potassium. Apart from these, nuts, lime beans, potatoes and poultry are other products to be include dint he list. However, the most important source of potassium is bananas. Benefits: Potassium may be looked upon as an essential health nutrient, due to a number of health benefits of potassium:

Stroke: Potassium plays an important role in keeping the working of brain in normal state. It is of great importance in preventing the occurrence of stroke in human brain. It is a fact that a person suffering from this dreadful disease may be found deficient in this essential body nutrient.

Low blood sugar: Decrease in potassium level causes a drop in blood sugar level. Decrease in blood sugar level causes sweating, headache, weakness, trembling and nervousness. Intake of potassium chloride and sodium provides immediate relief from such situation.

Muscle disorders: Potassium plays an important role in regular muscle contraction. Right concentration of potassium, is required for the regular contraction and relaxation of the muscle. Most of the potassium ions of the human body are present inside the muscle cells. It maintains muscle function and optimal nerve.

Cramps: Muscle cramps result due to low level of potassium in the blood, a condition called as hypokalemia. Intake of a banana everyday prevents muscle cramp. Bananas are rich in potassium content.

Brain function: Potassium channels play a key role in maintaining the electrical conductivity of brain and affect the brain function. It is also involved in higher brain function like memory and learning. In addition to it, serious ailments like epilepsy are related to the functioning of potassium channels.

Blood Pressure: Potassium is helpful in reversing the role of sodium in unbalancing the normal blood pressure. Thus, it acts as a vital component, which maintains the normality of blood pressure in human body. This further abolishes the possibilities of heart diseases and hypertension. Regulation of blood pressure is an important function of this mineral.

Anxiety and Stress: Potassium is of great importance for people suffering from undesirable mental states like anxiety and stress. It is considered as a perfect stress buster and thus it ensures efficient mental performance of human body.

Muscular Strength: This is in fact, one of the most appreciable benefits of potassium, as it ensures proper growth of muscle tissues and proper utilization of energy released during metabolism to add significant worth to muscular strength. The muscles, together with cardiac muscle, are prone to paralysis due to deficiency of potassium in diet.

Metabolism: It assists in metabolic process of various nutrients like fats, proteins and carbohydrates. Thus, potassium is of great value in extracting the energy out of nutrients consumed by man.

Heart and Kidney Disorders: The health benefits of potassium ensure good health for heart as well as kidneys. It plays an irreplaceable role in regulating the functions of potassium. Apart from this, this mineral assists kidneys to remove waste by the process of excretion. However, it is strictly advisable to consult your doctor to get recommendations about dosage.

Water Balance: Potassium has another significant role to play in maintaining the desirable water balance in human body. There are different types of cells, which require having proper water balance for proper functioning and potassium aids these cells in regulating this balance.

Electrolyte: Potassium plays the significant role as an electrolyte in human body. It helps in regulating the level of fluids in human body and thus performs a number of critical body functions.

Nervous System: Potassium helps in boosting the spirit of nerve reflexes to transmit message from one body part to another. This in turn helps in muscle contraction to perform various activities every day.

High In Potassium Foods Natural vegetable foods tend to be high in potassium. Among the foods that are highest in potassium are:

Apricots

Raisins

Sultanas

Figs

Mixed dried fruit

Orange juice

Lima beans

Cantaloupe

Nuts

Wheat germ

Soy Flour

Bran

Baked Potato with the skin on

Potato chips

Tomato puree

Banana

Sardines

Whole wheat pasta and bread

All these are making it so much easier to detoxify your body during the fall, which also happens to be one of the best time to cleanse.

Even though detoxification/cleansing therapies have been practiced throughout history and have proven their effectiveness over and over, some people are still skeptical as to their need for our bodies. Their argument is that the human body is equipped already with an elimination system that gets rid of “junk” on a daily basis. Not surprisingly, these are the same people that say something of the sort “My grandfather ate red meat and drank lots of alcohol every day and lived to be 97…” or some other lifestyle comparison with our ancestors… “So, why would I have to watch my diet?”
The only excuse for these kinds of comments is ignorance.
In this present age, we cannot ignore the fact that the advance in comfort and our comfortable lifestyle have to match our needs. Since the idea of hunting for the modern men involves a short walk down the street rather than a day of running in the wild, it only makes sense to review our energy needs coming from our food intake.
Sure, exercising regularly helps, hut how close in energy expenditure do you think a trip to the gym compares to our ancestors’ hunting for food?
Another strong argument speaking for regular detoxification need is our environment and its state of pollution.
Only since the Second World War, the number of chemicals introduced in the atmosphere is astonishing… and the pollution we continuously dump into the environment is now getting us back and affects our health. Recent studies show that even babies are born with over 220 environmental toxins in their body, with an astounding 190 of those being carcinogenic! While the human body is equipped with well-functioning elimination systems, it is possible to become overwhelmed, aside from the fact that the human body doesn’t know how to deal with many of the new chemicals.
Nowadays, toxins also show up in unexpected places:
Bedding: Mattresses, foam rubber pillows release chemicals. Cotton mattresses are laced with pesticides and fire agents that are toxins to your nervous system.
Cleaning supplies: Chemicals found in cleaning materials are formaldehyde, phenols, toluenes, xylene, methylene chloride and butane; they are all damaging to your immune and nervous system.
Soft vinyl floors: These contain dangerous chemicals like benzene, toluene, phenols, phthalates, and styrene; they are all associated with infertility, aplastic anemia (bone marrow problem), white blood cell chromosome damage, leukemia. Hard vinyl might be a better choice as it is more inert and safer.
Office supplies: Fluids from correction and copying machines emit trichloroethylene (TCE) – also used in dry cleaning procedures, rug shampoos, floor polishes, old anesthetics – which is known to cause confusion, inability to focus and concentrate, tiredness, delayed reaction time, peripheral neuropathy, poor coordination, headache, muscle cramps, etc.
Cosmetics: They are notorious chemicals, overused in this society, despite their clear association to many health issues; they contain nitrosamines – known to cause cancer; black hair dyes contain mutagenic chemicals – which cause changes in the DNA code – therefore considered pre-carcinogenic. When used more than 20 years, the risk for contracting non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and multiple myeloma increases four times.
Occupational toxins: Industrial jobs pose a greater risk of exposure to toxins resulting in a variety of occupational hazards.

One of the greatest hazards we are all exposed to is air pollution. One of the greatest health risks is air and the pollution it carries which is only getting worse every decade. Government sources claim that the worst air pollution is caused mostly by industry and automobiles. The risk and incidence of respiratory diseases like asthma parallels the rise in automobile emissions.
Besides the outside air pollution, the 21st century presents our bodies with extra toxins from the air in homes and offices. The building industry produces invisible, not measurable, and unknown (until recently) air toxins; the highest concentration of construction chemicals are found in newly constructed offices, hospitals, schools, etc. from carpets, plywood, cabinets, containing toluene, acetone, phenols, benzene, xylene, styrene, and other petroleum-based chemicals that are just starting to be researched regarding health effects.
Many people find themselves prisoners working in “tight buildings,” in which ventilation systems are compromised because of inability to open windows.
Water is an essential element of life; as necessary as it is, caution must be exercised when it is not “clean.”
Along with the air pollution, water is the next medium for transporting and sorting all environmental toxins in our world.
Referred to as a “toxic soup,” water can cause many damages to your health; good “clean” water is your #1 investment you should make towards a better, healthier you.
Food represents the fuel of our lives; we get all our nutrients and energy to be, do, think, and heal from the food we give our body to digest, assimilate, and use.
It only makes sense that if you supply your body with good, “clean,” and nutritious food, your body will benefit health wise. Unfortunately, in today’s world, our food supply contributes the greatest source of toxicity for us; it usually lacks essential vitamins, minerals, enzymes, fatty acids, and phytochemicals (nutrients from plants) that we require. Not only do we use chemicals (pesticides, insecticides, etc.) on our plant-based foods, but they grow out of depleted soils (devoid of minerals). The “dead corpses” we cook and barbeque while calling them steaks come from animals pumped with hormones for accelerated growth and productivity and “prophylactic” antibiotics to reduce the meat industry’s loss. Even the fish either swim in polluted waters or are farmed and drugs-fed.
As if all this wasn’t enough, we proceed further and process all this raw food sources, adding more chemicals to increase shelf life (trans-fats) or to satisfy our already “confused” taste buds (additives, colorings, etc.).
This all sounds like we live in a toxic soup, but it is the truth: we do live in a toxic, damaging to our health world. Until we clean up the world around us, the only choice to stay healthy we have is to ensure our human body can handle the extra toxicity so it can keep us healthy, as it is supposed to do.
This is easily achievable by following a good regular nutritional cleansing program.
